Attractions in the Region

Chepelare is one of the established ski resorts in Bulgaria. The town boasts some of the best slopes on the Balkan Peninsula. Chepelare is also a wonderful starting point for hiking tours to many attractions in the Rhodope Mountains. Near Chepelare are the architectural reserve village of Shiroka Laka, the Wonderful Bridges, Yagodinska Cave, the National Astronomical Observatory Rozhen, Devil’s Throat (Dyavolsko Garlo) Cave, and Bachkovo Monastery.

In Chepelare operates the only Balkan Museum of Speleology, showcasing cave exhibits preserved since the dawn of human history. You can also explore a museum collection of skis and skiing, recounting the rich history of winter sports in the area.
